Location

Classic round trip 7 nights/8 days
Day 1: Seeduwa
Arrival at Colombo Airport and transfer to a hotel near the airport. Afternoon free for relaxation, in the evening, the first meeting with the tour group and the tour guide for an information session with further details for the coming days.
Overnight stay and dinner at Hotel Ramada or similar (Deluxe RR Cinnamon Lakeside or similar)
Day 2: Seeduwa – Polonnaruwa – Sigiriya
After breakfast, drive towards the Cultural Triangle, with the first destination being Polonnaruwa, the second ancient capital of Sri Lanka, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Polonnaruwa experienced its golden age from the 11th to the 13th century. Also known are the oversized Buddha statues carved from a rock at Gal Vihara. After the visit, continue to Sigiriya. Lunch at a typical local restaurant.
Overnight stay and dinner at Hotel Kasyapa Lion Rock or similar (Deluxe RR Cinnamon Lodge or similar)
Day 3: Sigiriya
After breakfast, drive to the famous rock fortress of Sigiriya. Climb the 200m high Lion Rock, where King Kassapa built a fortress in the 5th century. Lunch at a typical local restaurant. In the afternoon, experience the simple life of the rural population during a village tour, as it is still practiced today in remote parts of the country.

Day 4: Sigiriya – Dambulla – Matale-Kandy
Today, visit the impressive cave temples of Dambulla with their countless Buddha statues. En route to Kandy, visit a typical spice and herb garden. Lunch will be an interactive cooking experience. Continue to Kandy, the last royal capital of the country. Here you will visit the famous Temple of the Tooth and in the evening, enjoy a cultural dance performance.

Day 5: Kandy
In the morning, drive to Peradeniya, the Botanical Gardens, considered one of the most beautiful in Asia. Admire the countless tropical plants and flowers here. Lunch will be at a Sinhalese restaurant. In the afternoon, visit a gem cutting factory during a city tour.
Overnight stay and dinner at Hotel Topaz or similar (Deluxe RR Mahaweli Beach or similar)
Day 6: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya-Haputale
After breakfast, head up winding roads into the island's green highlands. Lunch at a typical local restaurant, and after a short walk to a nearby waterfall, continue towards the tea plantations. During a visit to a tea factory, the workers will explain their craft, and you will be served a cup of freshly brewed tea. In Nuwara Eliya, known as the city above the clouds, the influence of the English colonial rulers is still noticeable today. During a city tour, visit a typical local market. The last leg of today's journey is the village of Haputale, which you will reach by train. You can get to know the village better during a walk.

Day 7: Haputale – Tissamaharama-Yala
Early in the morning, head down to the south of the country. Along the way, you will see numerous vegetable plantations and rice terraces. After checking into your hotel in Tissamaharama, you will drive by jeep in the afternoon to Yala or Udawalawe National Park, where with a little patience, you can observe bears, elephants, buffaloes, mongooses, and leopards in the wild.

Day 8: Yala – Galle – Colombo/Beach Hotel
After breakfast, drive along the southwest coast, passing the fort city of Galle, towards Colombo or the booked beach hotel (for package tours, transfer to the connecting hotel is automatically included; for modular bookings, this can be booked upon request and for a fee).
Green tea plantations cover hilly landscape under cloudy sky.
