Location

The Joy Island Resort is located on the eastern outer reef of the North Male Atoll. The island can be reached from the airport in approx. 40 minutes by speedboat. The house reef is approx. 100 m away.

Facilities

The resort, opened in 2023, has a total of 151 rooms, built both on land and over the water. Amenities include a reception hall with a seating area. The resort also has a boutique. For your culinary well-being, there are three restaurants and a bar. Among them is "The Market" with exquisite international cuisine. Enjoy authentic Italian cuisine and fresh wood-fired pizza at "Il Basilico" restaurant, experience a culinary journey through Japanese cuisine at the Teppanyaki restaurant "Japanese Garden", or relax with dinner under the stars at the "Palm Beach" restaurant. Additionally, the resort has a pool. Umbrellas, sun loungers with mattresses, and beach towels are provided free of charge at the swimming pool and on the beach.

Beach Villa

The Beach Villas are approx. 50 m² and feature a bathroom with shower/WC, hairdryer, air conditioning, telephone, satellite TV, safe, ceiling fan, minibar (for a fee), coffee/tea maker, and a furnished terrace with direct beach access. (2BV)

Beach Suite

With the same amenities as the Beach Villa, the Beach Suite is larger (approx. 70 m²) and located on the sunset side of the island. (BS2) Available for an extra charge also with a private pool (approx. 100 m²). (KR2) Rooms with direct pool/sea access pose an increased risk to small children. Therefore, for safety reasons, Schauinsland-Reisen has a minimum age of 6 years for children when booking these room types.

Lagoon Villa

With the same amenities as the Beach Villa, the Lagoon Villa is larger (approx. 60 m²) and located on the sunrise side. The villa also has direct access to the sea. (LV2)

Lagoon Suite

With the same amenities as the Lagoon Villa, the Lagoon Suite is larger (approx. 70 m²), located on the sunset side, and also features a bathtub. (DL2)

All Inclusive

All-Inclusive

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the main restaurant. Afternoon snacks, cakes, tea, and coffee from 4:30 PM to 6 PM. Selected alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages such as water, soft drinks, juices, beer, house wine, cocktails, and mocktails from 10 AM to midnight at the open bar. Daily minibar replenishment with selected beverages (water and soft drinks). Non-motorized water sports (kayak, paddleboard, snorkeling equipment) are also included.

Premium All-Inclusive (bookable until 26.12.2025)

In addition to All-Inclusive, a selection of premium wines, prosecco, various signature drinks, fresh juices, and tea and coffee blends are included from 10 AM to midnight at the open bar. Daily minibar replenishment includes beer, wine, and snacks. Two excursions, Sunset Fishing and Local Island Trip (subject to change), are also included. Furthermore, guests receive a 20% discount on all spa treatments, a romantic dinner on the beach, and a BBQ dinner on the beach.

Speedboat: Operation for estimated arrival/departure between 5 AM and 11 PM // Domestic (Domestic flight): Operation estimated for arrivals/departures between 9:30 AM and 4 PM // Seaplane: Operation expected for arrivals/departures between 9 AM and 3 PM.
Waiting times of 3 hours or more for onward transfer are possible.
Seaplane transfers may involve 1-2 intermediate landings.
For arrivals/departures outside these times, an overnight stay in Malé must be booked in advance. The costs for this are to be borne by the guest. Exceptions are changes due to flight delays, bad weather, or extended immigration waiting times (in these cases, our local agency will arrange an interim overnight stay).
The baggage allowance for seaplanes is 20 kg + 3 kg of hand luggage per person. Excess baggage must be paid for on site (approx. $5 USD per kg). Excess baggage is usually delivered by boat.

In the Maldives, most rooms are equipped with one or two queen/king-size beds. For an occupancy of 2 adults + 1 or 2 children, there may be a total of only 1 or 2 large beds available. Accordingly, it is possible that for 2 adults + 1 or 2 children in one room, one child may have to sleep in the parents' bed! An extra bed cannot be guaranteed in advance and will be allocated on site subject to availability.
