Location

The Kwanza Resort by SUNRISE is located in the southern part of Zanzibar island, in the tranquil coastal village of Kizimkazi. The location is characterized by a secluded, nature-oriented environment and belongs to the island's most pristine regions. The resort is situated directly on the southwest coast of Zanzibar, on the Unguja peninsula, nestled between tropical vegetation and the open Indian Ocean. The Kizimkazi region is known for its extensive coastlines, small fishing villages, and an authentic, minimally touristy atmosphere. The resort itself stretches along a private stretch of beach (approx. 350 m, inaccessible at high tide) and is surrounded by lush gardens and palm trees, creating a harmonious blend of nature and architecture. Abeid Amani Karume International Airport and the historic old town of Stone Town are approximately 60-90 minutes away, depending on traffic conditions.

We would like to inform you that currently all airlines from Tanzania are on the EU's so-called ‘blacklist’. For this reason, they are currently not authorised to operate long-haul flights to the EU. We are therefore not currently using any of these airlines for our long-haul flights to the EU.
The lack of authorisation is not due to specific safety problems with the individual airlines, but rather to the inspection and safety procedures of the Tanzanian aviation authority, which do not currently meet the safety requirements of the EU.
However, the airlines that we use for domestic flights (for example, for transfer flights from Zanzibar to mainland Tanzania) are subject to the international safety assessment ISSA of the IATA (International Air Transport Association) or a comparable safety assessment. These assessments correspond to the globally recognised safety standards of the aviation industry.
