Ngutuni Safari 3 Days

Travel itinerary

Experience authentic safari adventures in the approximately 4,000-hectare private Ngutuni Conservancy on the edge of Tsavo East National Park.

Day 1: After an early breakfast at Papillon Lagoon Reef, you will be picked up by your safari guide around 7 AM and drive to Ngutuni Lodge. The lodge is located in a 4,000-hectare private game reserve on the border of Tsavo East National Park (185 km/approx. 4 hours driving time). After arrival, you will check in, followed by time to relax before lunch.
In the afternoon, the first exciting game drive begins in the Ngutuni Sanctuary. The reserve is home to large herds of elephants and buffalo as well as lions, giraffes, zebras, and many other animal species. At dusk, you will return to the lodge for dinner. With a bit of luck, you can watch elephants gathering at the illuminated waterhole directly in front of the lodge in the evening.
Overnight stay at Ngutuni Lodge (full board).

Day 2: Early in the morning, enjoy a hot drink and light snack before setting off on a morning game drive in the Taita Hills (approx. 1 hour drive). The early morning hours are considered the best time for animal spotting, as many animals are still actively foraging before temperatures rise. At noon, visit Salt Lick Lodge for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive.
After returning to the lodge, dinner will be served at Ngutuni Lodge.

Day 3: After an early game drive, a relaxed breakfast is served at the lodge. Afterward, there is time at leisure before transferring to the Voi train station.
The 2-hour return journey to Mombasa begins at 12 PM by train in 1st class (packed lunch for the return journey included), with arrival at the hotel expected around 3 PM.

The lodge features 48 guest rooms in four building blocks, all offering a direct view of the waterhole.
Standard amenities include a separate bathroom with shower and hairdryer, telephone, vanity table, and a furnished balcony with a view of the waterhole.

Papillon Lagoon Reef

Location

The hotel is wonderfully nestled in a vast garden, directly on the wide, white, palm-fringed Diani Beach. Mombasa is approx. 35 km away. The airport is approx. 90 minutes away by car. The nearest shops are located in Diani (approx. 3 km away).

Facilities

The complex, built in typical African style, has 149 rooms spread over eight 2-story buildings. Adjacent to the open lobby with reception and boutique are the modern lounge with TV and the restaurant. From the swimming pool with swim-up bar, a beautiful lawn for sunbathing extends to the long sandy beach (sun loungers, cushions, and bath towels are included). This is also where the beach bar is located, with a dance floor for lively evenings and an open restaurant with a buffet featuring local and continental dishes. Towels are included at the pool. There is also the Lagoon Lounge (for a fee), which serves premium drinks, barista coffee, and tropical cocktails, and offers a breathtaking view of the beach.
